At the very end of the summer last year we decided last minute to repaint and change up the living room. I have been wanting to do this for a very long time since we have not painted it since we moved into the house. It was only four short years ago but you have to also keep in mind that we have three kids as well. With a galley kitchen and no room to eat in it we had to get a small children's table and put it in the living room for their meals. Well they are not super messy but they are kids and kids just happen to make a mess. With the small table in the living room it was always up against the wall and if they touched it would always be wiped down leaving the paint less shiny and not fresh. I had a color in mind that I really liked and Ken approved also so we headed to the store.
It was not to long after we painted the room when I started doing other little touches like cleaning the drapes and changing the picture frames to all match. When it was time to put up the curtains I decided that I did not like them at all. They were hand me downs when we moved in and thats all we could afford at the time. I dragged Ken to the store again and together we picked out some really nice chocolate brown curtains along with a new and modern rods to hold them up. The refinishing is still not yet completed because as of last weekend we sold our old entertainment center online and purchased a new one. Now that we have so much more room getting rid of the old center I am on the look out for some table lamps. We do have an overhead light on the ceiling fan but I sometimes like a softer light in the evenings when the kids go to bed. It gives the living room a more romantic feel rather than a huge light on lighting up the whole room. As a matter of fact since I have been looking around I totally fell in love with these modern style lamps above for the side of the new entertainment center. It puts off a really nice soft light and gives the modern edge I wanted to have. I also loved the fact that they were not made of glass so my three little ones would not pull them over and break them. I think they will be perfect for my new living room. Now I just have to talk Ken into getting new furniture. Hopefully that won't be to hard!
